Overview
The Kiga-juku was a post station on the Hime-Kaido Road. It also worked as a horse station People would change houses here to carry on their way. Kiga checking station, which was managed by the Kondo family, was installed by Tokugawa Ieyasu's order in 1601. It began to charge for post-horse service in 1610.
