Overview

It is believed that the town of Kiga was appointed as a post town of the Hime-Kaido Road in 1587 (Edo period) and the Kigasekisho (Kiga Checking Station) was established by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1601. A part of the original primary guard station remains.
