Mikan, mandarin oranges, are widely grown in Mikkabi-cho as Hamamatsu has a great climate for its cultivation; low rainfall, high amount of sunlights, and well-drained soil. The sight of the orchards in the region is breathtaking during the blossom season in May and the harvest season in fall.
