Establishment
As a student of Hamamatsu Seibu Junior High School found a piece of Yayoi pottery, an excavation was held at the area of Iba in between May 1949 to August 1950. It succeeded on unearthing many Yayoi potteries, carbonized rice, and wood tools. Since the site was planned to be a rail yard, a major excavation was held in between 1968 to 1981. Iba Remains Musum (Iba Iseki Shiryōkan) was opened to display and introduce the findings at the site in July 1975.

Contents
Iba Remains is an archeological site of compound village remains of Jōmon period to Muromachi period. The site is a few hundred meters in diameter. Although research was held more than 10 times, it hasn’t yet revealed the whole picture.
A tripled moat surrounding a village remain of the late Yayoi Era is especially on attention. A part of the site is now a park and opened for visits. The museum locates in the park and displays findings. A pottery with a fin from Yayoi Era and a wooden armor colored with black and red are must see-items. Wood strips and pottery with ink letters from Aska Era to Heian Era are registered cultural property of Shizuoka Prefecture.
