Great Earthquakes of Hoei and Ansei

Hoei Earthquake

An earthquake struck at 2 pm on October 4, 1707, destroyed 200 houses in the town of the Hamamatsu castle. The tsunami generated by the quake broke down ferry-boats in Imagire on the Tokaido route.

 

Ansei Great Earthquakes

An earthquake occurred at 9 am on November 4, 1854. The total of 32 houses was destroyed and one people died in Irino-mura. In the next year on September 28, an earthquake hit at 6 pm killed two people and destroyed 27 houses in Yonezu.
