Establishment
Hamakita Regional Museum (Shimin Museum Hamakita) was opened to introduce history and culture of the region in November 2004. It consists of Livelihood Resource Center and Special Exhibition Room on the first floor, and Historical Resource Center on the second floor.
 
Contents
Livelihood Resource Center displays clothes and goods used in Enshū Dainebutsu. It also introduces the ceremony with a diorama and a video show. In addition, history of textiles in Enshū area is introduced, and the local traditional toys and tools used during Meiji to Showa periods are on display here. Historical Resource Center exhibits, in chronological order, artifacts unearthed from the archaeological sites in the region. A model of the region indicating each archaeological site is shown also.Special Exhibition Room holds traveling exhibitions by other museums.
